I definitively know that not everything needs a reaction because I spent so many hours in so many days of my life reacting to things that were not about enriching my life by subtracting from it. People don't need to know our opinion. We don't need to give our opinion. Most of the time, the people we're talking to, we want to react to, we don't care about that much anyway, so we don't need to say anything

I speak only when i feel compelled to

I've never been the one to really hold my tongue when it came to things like that. But this year, I am remoulding myself and I am trying to be more mindful about where I direct my energy. Some people are worth the fight, while others are not. And I'm learning that. And with me learning that, I am so much happier because it is teaching me to let things go. Everything doesn't have to be a war or turned into a battle

@ldgarrit: a pause perspective,…

Lisa Rev LJ, thank you so much for creating this well cast and this space for sharing a wonderful insight and in fact, a tactic that someone might have employee for understanding our own sort of reactive nature, especially in society, modern society right now, so reactive. We react to the news, we react to social media, we react to political circumstances, the state of affairs, the state of the nation. There are so many things that can trigger us into a reactive state of being

@ldgarrit sitting in silence can be scary but lovely!

But I think that really consciously thinking about where I put my energy, whether or not that's not responding to somebody who's angry or not responding because there's no need for a response. It kind of makes me think about in the Quaker or Shaker religion, a lot of groups, when they're having a meeting, their type of a religious service, oftentimes people won't even speak unless they feel that the spirit has called them to speak

And one of those people is my bio family. And I was criticized, be rated, judged, like all the time and I'd be left with doubt and like why did you do that again? You knew you'd have the same reaction. So now that I've set boundaries, I am so much better at this and everyone doesn't know everything about me. And that just feels very secure to me. I'm not left vulnerable
