#TellYourStory | A life lesson I learned from a child...

I'm all right. So here's a life lesson I learned from a child. My younger son has amazing appetite control. And so just to go back, I'm in my grew up in a day and age where a lot of us, we knew we had to finish our plate. Whatever our parents put on our plate, we had to finish it. There was no concern with poor sizes and what our little bellies can hold

Because then he'll get in touch with his emotions, and he'll be able to express his emotions and his feelings and his frustrations, and he won't overeat because he knows when he's hungry and when he's not, and he'll have healthier life. I just wish they have an all around healthier life. So kudos to you. That's awesome. I wish I was that intuitive when I was younger, but I wasn't, and now I have to make better choices now

So if we're eating terribly or we got old stuff sitting there, it's affecting our brain. I so believe that food is medicine, but me, like so many other people, I have so many issues around food. I'm just realizing it. Even when I first went to go see a naturopath doctor, she said, what is it that you want to do. What are your goals?

Oh, I just wanted some chips. I'm like, well, then you're not starving. You want a snack. That's completely different. Because when I hear starving, you need something of substance. So, yes, you can't carry over those same things from the way that we came up today. And portion control is huge. And so for your son to have mastered that and not necessarily mastered portion control, more specifically, I know you were specifically talking about that

And like you said, you have to eat it. We finally got to where, instead of her putting the food on our plate, which worked out a lot better, was for us to serve ourself, get what we wanted out of the bowls. But she would always say, whatever you put on that plate, you have to eat it. And then there was another saying

And so hopefully we'll get to that nice middle ground because, yeah, but I love it, too, because a lot of times, and you're my mom's age, and so a lot of times when people talk about how they grew up or they talk about back in my day, it's always done from a lens of everybody was perfect, things were better. And the reality is every generation has their ups and downs, ins and outs
