How Do You Allow the Sun with Rocio Christensen

article image placeholderUploaded by @allowthesun
Hello, swell Community. Welcome to another. How do you allow the sun today? I'm really excited to have a familiar voice here on Swell. My fellow community manager, Ro Christensen. Ro is amazing, and I am so grateful to have gotten to know her over the years. Ro is a very talented multidisciplinary artist and writer, also beautiful singer and songwriter and I know recently performed, I believe, for the Copenhagen Fringe Festival, a monologue entitled An Original Thought

It just had that really nice thing of mixing reality and fiction in a way that I found really satisfying and really gratifying and fulfilling and made me inspired to go out into the world and talk to people, marry the reality with the drama, which is what I love. And then another thing, personal documentary to me. My eyes were I'm not going to swear my eyes were really opened by Kave Zahedi, who taught a course at the New School as well. And super controversial figure

But I think that it's made me remember why I loved art when I was a kid, why I loved to reach for the crayons, why I loved would become obsessed with songs and write songs even if I didn't know how to play an instrument and come up with these wild stories. I think my specific unique light that I shine on the world has something to do maybe with observation

Ro thank you so much for your responses. Oh, and I loved hearing from Truman. Very sweet. And thank you for sharing about your experience at The New School and with Investigative Theater and the film, I had to look both of the folks up, so I started following the civilians. It looks like they're in Brooklyn, so I'm going to have to check them out. And then also the cave. What was his last name? Saheda or sahiti

Doesn't it feel kind of good to be so, like, oh, my God, you just feel so alive, and that just little shift of perspective? Totally. It just changed how I was experiencing it, and I just felt immediate gratitude for being alive. And then I felt like I started letting the sun in a little bit, even if the sun kind of hurt a little bit. And it's like oh, yeah, I'm feeling this pain. But thank God that I am

And then the beauty about it is I can also include in my routine time specifically for the things that I care about that maybe if I didn't have a routine, I would just be like, oh, I never have time to write, or I never have time to do a little research or read, God forbid. So, yeah, I think a routine and play, those are the ways, the main ways that I take care of myself. Thank you for your questions

Ro. Wow, these responses are so beautiful and inspirational. First off, just thank you so much for sharing your story about that time of transition and pain. And I listened to the Duncan Trestle video that you shared, and I loved it. Thank you for sharing that. And I just love when, yeah, you're in it, you're in the pain, you're in all the feelings, and then something like some piece of art or nature just totally zooms you out, right?
