It gives me great joy to share it here with you on Swell, another great social platform where we bring people together. And there's such a synergy between these two people and how they connect and laugh and make us feel human on a weekly basis

And I just loved how she wrote this piece, particularly because I met Annie Korsan through a storytelling program. And I had a blast with her the night that I met her. So when I saw this, I was like, oh, my God. And he's being covered. Jessica, I guess first of all, can you let us now what drew you to cover this? And how was it to hang out with them?

Hi there. Well, thanks so much for reaching out to me and having me chat on here. I was really thrilled that you were able to feature the article, and yeah, I mean, I spent a couple of hours with Annie and her 30 year old friend, Michael Kenzie, at Annie's house in park LaBrea, and we just had a really fun time. It was turned into just felt like girlfriends hanging out. And Annie is full of stories and she is funny and vivacious

You made it clear that it did resonate. But how do you Wade through people pitching and what's that like for you? And how do you separate the editor in you from the person in you like, you might love something, but it might not make a good story. How do you manage that? What's your navigation path like when you get pitches that are sort of in that in between space

And sometimes there's a really wonderful story that you spend an awful lot of time and that you believe in wholeheartedly and it gets no traction. So then you have to kind of take a hard look at why, whether you didn't write a good headline and maybe it just didn't get into the right channels, or maybe it just didn't resonate with people and the way it resonated with you. But that's always a bitter pill to swallow
