I like the idea of Minimalism in a world of Materialism !

article image placeholderUploaded by @Pragati.chopra
So I am a person who like to live and own less and just enjoy time without worrying about what I have. And he taught me that living with less makes us less anxious and helps us focus on the most essential things. And that is what is called today as minimalism. We keep cluttering our spaces with stuff we don't even need. We always want to buy bigger houses, we want to eat more, we want to buy new clothes every time

Hello, pragati. And that's wonderful sentiment that embracing minimalism in a world driven by the materialism can lead to a more intentional and fulfilling life. And it's about focusing on what truly matters reducing clutter and finding contentment in simplicity. And this philosophy of one leads to the greater mindfulness, reduce stress and also deeper the appreciation for the things that bring genuine joy and meaning

I mean we spend all of our life as humans running after money, saving this for this, saving money, saving clothes, saving stuff for future. I think the most important day that we have moment that we have is the present moment. So it's better just that we think that how we connect to this present, how we connect to everything that is there at this moment and not what future holds

I'm going to accumulate everything and I'm going to leave it one day to be donated to someone or to be distributed among someone, whatever ways the people like. And for the past four months, what have I been collecting? I've been collecting books. I am adding on to my what you call it as you can call it as wisdom, you can call it as knowledge. You can call it as the source of all the curiosities which I have

And I have always been a minimalist. I mean, even my family is like why you are so quick in throwing stuff, you are so quick in decluttering the house. Because I really don't want to have own stuff that I think is of no use in future. I mean, I don't want to collect because I learned this when I lost my father and he used to stay alone. So I had to clean all his belongings, I had to empty his house

Hello, Pragati. Very good evening and thank you so much for coming up with this valuable conversation on the idea of minimalism. As a matter of fact, the journey that I have taken so far 40, 41 years now, I understand this one thing. When I look back at my life now, I see that a lot of possessions that I have in my house do not matter to me at all. It's not that I cannot afford buying clothes

It made me think, Pragati, that it is so important to keep yourself light and light in true sense, not carrying the baggage of all the things from the past, literally and figuratively as well. So I thank you. I thank you a lot for bringing up this topic. And while I don't see any problem with materialism, one of my closest friends is a huge shopaholic. She keeps on buying so many stuff, like almost she buys one piece of garment every other day

But you know, getting attached to this thing just because getting attached to the clothes you're buying, not trying to share it with others, that's the kind of attachment that I'm talking about. That is wrong. You can have as many clothes, but there should be a limit to everything. And the best thing is I prefer I love wearing clothes. I mean, the only thing that makes me happy is outfits. Nice clothes, nice shoes, nice bags, that's all I love

The one consciousness Mahapurusha created, the Pritvi which is materialism prithvi is materialism earthly things. It is also created by the universal consciousness. And disregarding it is as good as disregarding Lord Narayan. That's why when you observe some Weisshnavites adore the U or Y symbol on the forehead with red or yellow sandal, they apply the U shaped symbol on their foreheads

Hi Pragati. I really loved this topic and I also believe in the idea of minimalism rather than materialism. So whatever you have, try to be happy with that, whether it is minimum or whatever it is, because you can't get it back. And at that moment, that minimal gives you a lot of happiness, lot of satisfaction, which others cannot give you

And for that I would like to say that you don't have to become a full on minimalist in order to benefit from its principles. Even small changes can make a big difference in your life. So in a world so focused on material possessions, it's easy to get lost in the pursuit of more. But by embracing the idea of minimalism, we can find more joy and fulfillment. Living with less, but living better. That's all I just want to say right now
