A husband’s love and a brother’s duty

article image placeholderUploaded by @Payal_Shandil
14 springs, 14 summers and 14 winters, all invisible to my sleeping eyes. I grew up in the shadow of my sister Sita. I played with her, laughed and cried with her, and then got married besides her. Today you sever that bond. I married you with the promise to be your partner in happiness and sadness. And your wow to your brother robs me of the opportunity to walk with you. To keep that promise. I shall not sit on the window counting days for your return

She has to bear this pain of separation for another 14 years. Till then she is ready to bid him a goodbye and she is ready to sacrifice her marital life all for the sake of this kingdom and she decides to go into a deep slumber so that she doesn't have to face that pain of separation

It is as if her life is spent, just those 14 years of her life will be as if, as a sleeping beauty that she will just sleep it away. She won't even have the satisfaction of looking for his return, waiting for his return, counting the days, spending her days in memory of him, all those activities which may have given her comfort, that is also denied to her. And she is, as a dutiful, obedient wife, she will do as Lakshman asks for her
