When I was in 8th grade, I thought it was very important to fit in and be like everybody else, to wear brands and to go parties late at night. Little did I know none of this matter. People who had to leave anyway left. No matter what I did to fit in, people who had to stay are still there even though I don't fit in at all. Fitting in is crucial for survival. That's why people feel such pressure to do it. Yet fitting in keeps people from expressing themselves authentically or being themselves. And that's a problem that causes mental health challenges. This for a lot of people. Most people find a balance, a way of fitting in when they need to and a place where it's safe to be themselves. But if people can't do this, they can easily get very isolated very quickly
