For years, we've been sold Vitamin D as a miraculous vitamin A supplement that can affect everything from depression to our bones and most recently, even infection, with some top health officials suggesting that it may be beneficial against COVID. Curious what patients out there think about Vitamin D, whether they feel it's beneficial or whether it's just a money grab from the supplement industry and what benefits they feel it gives them
Perhaps you know, a little bit more than I do. But my understanding from the little bit of research I've done is that the study that's been going around this week is just kind of inconclusive, although many people are presenting it as if it's totally spot on on the money, as they would say

Hey, Dr. Kava, great to hear your voice here. It's Deborah and I. I have to say that I have tried supplements over the years and some really have an impact on me over time. I feel especially glucose, Amine and controitin for low back pain. Vitamin D absolutely has been one of those supplements that I've heard from regular doctors who normally don't talk about any supplements that are very skeptical

And in Minnesota, you're in the Northern Hemisphere, and the sunlight just isn't as strong, and it's natural for vitamin D levels to drop off when you're in what seems like about a mile away from the North Pole right now. So I started taking it personally. I feel that it helps boost my immune system, and I'll take a daily supplement of vitamin C and vitamin D, and I can't prove that it does
I take several supplements, and for the most part, I take them because I have seen results from them. But with respect to this particular study, it's my understanding that it hasn't been peer reviewed yet. So when I read about it, I sort of took it with a grain of salt. I'm not ready to jump on the bandwagon yet, but I'm not ready to dismiss it yet. I'm waiting until we hear more
