Surf really found its current through a whole lot of rock and punk, and even today nd and it's really cool to trace it, and I think it teaches us a lot of lessons about how genre is shaped, but it's never actually properly fully formed. There's no way to ultimately define a sound. You can't just say that Reverb is what makes surf, because Reverb kind of comes from that country twang that informs surf
