Has Instagram become TikTok?

article image placeholderInstagram: Hugely popular post criticises app and demands it reverse controversial changes
One of the main differences is they see a lot more people that they don't know creeping into their feed. It's not just their community. It's not just the people around them, their connections that they're seeing, but they are seeing a lot more of outside influence within their feed and they don't like it. They see that as invasive. And that's not the reason that they are on Instagram

Hey Phil, thanks for posting this. Very interesting. One of the things that immediately stands out to me when you pose this question is the obvious Reals feature that is present on Instagram and how since it's inclusion in the platform, it's becoming very, very critical part for companies for influencers to be seen and grow their base. What I find most interesting about that is how it's impacted the lives of your typical creator or influencer on that platform

Its all good for me.

I'm still a sneakerhead and I make hip hop music and beats and stuff. So using those appropriate hashtags on Instagram at the time, I got to meet a big communities. These are communities that wasn't a part of they didn't know who I was or anything like that. A lot of stuff you said a lot of people don't like now about Instagram, which is very strange to me because that seemed to be the benefit of Instagram. It's kind of like you can meet more people

"the social dilemma" is a great one to watch about this topic

But like, for example, when Snapchat had stories, like Instagram stories came out, twitter then had stories, things like that, I think that it's just kind of the cycle of social media. However, I am starting to get a little bit more empty, I think, about the algorithm

Hey fell. I think this is a very interesting topic as I have now been using Instagram for probably twelve years and I've been using TikToks since it was quite called Blanking on their musical E. That was their name before TikTok. So I've definitely been a heavy user for both. And I can absolutely say that Instagram really needs to make changes. They made a change, I want to say probably two years ago now with their algorithm

I really like this post because as an inflow or somebody who wants to be an influencer, say, I feel like people are noticing that TikTok gets a lot more attention, which is why on Instagram you start to see reels. You know, you have the different or time limit that you can post for videos. And ultimately videos are winning out. And I know people might want the original Instagram, but I honestly doubt that people are interested in photos anymore

I actually really love that someone's touching on this topic because I've seen over the past few years Instagram kind of go downhill and go towards trying to trend towards other social medias and try to be unique a little bit less, which I found as something that's been hindering their growth. So nowadays when you go on Instagram, basically anyone on their feet within a few posts, you'll see like a weirdly sized TikTok resize to fit into an Instagram like video. And it's weird to see

I don't know why they haven't been back to I don't know why these changes became or induced because it was so gradual to a point where it became everyone finally started noticing. Everyone was noticing. But I feel like we're everyone's in like, what is Instagram now? Like, what has it become?

But I definitely think I use Instagram and TikTok for different things. I use Instagram to see what my friends are doing, to see kind of what I follow the Greek life pages from my school and I follow some of my school pages and I follow my friends and my family. So it's like it's kind of a way to see what's going on with them and to see what's going on with my friends, maybe see news from my school, stuff like that

And if we're doing the same, like not the exact same thing, but pretty general same thing on multiple apps, we're going to stop using one of them eventually. So yeah, that's kind of how I think it will end up playing out. But TikTok and Instagram are definitely very similar now and it will be fun to see what happens with the two apps later

I personally think Instagram should just listen more to what their users want because I've noticed a lot of users of Instagram complain about the same thing and then Instagram goes and does the opposite of what they're saying, which kind of doesn't really make sense to me. Maybe it's like a certain business tactic or something. I'm not sure. But I think if they just listen to the feedback that they have gotten and taken that into account, then I think they would be a lot better
