I don’t like to mix Business with Pleasure

And so just about everybody I know is doing something, something that they sell. And I know people that are selling books because they're authors. I know people that do real estate. I know folks who sell jewelry, especially, like paparazzi, $5 jewelry, which I'm in love with, you know, but there's people that sell Mary Kay and Avon and candles and you name it, t shirts

They're going to tell everybody about your business and they're going to buy all your products. And so I think that's a bad piece of advice. Some of my best customers have been folks that I didn't really even know. Like that. Like, I met a guy who lives in Texas and, and he lives in Dallas, and he and I have never met face to face, but he is one of my biggest scentsy customers

Well, you always hear these stories about people who are like, talking to friends and family to invest in crypto or real estate, and things don't work out. And people are upset at their. If this person, this person's a con artist. Now, sometimes they are a con artist, and sometimes they just didn't know what they were doing and they just had the skillset to navigate whatever they were doing. And now money is lost, feelings are hurt

And I consider him a friend in the sense that while he was here cutting grass, we would chitchat. He'd be finished and we still outside chat for like an hour, drinking some water, just conversing. And that was cool. We were friendly. But he was single. And I remember when I first met him, I was single. And he did mention, like, hitting up a comedy show together, which could seem good

Kitchen and restroom should remain separate.

So I haven't, and I've noticed more and more on social media that she's always, you know, saying, well, I'm selling this product and I'm having this party, and if you want to come to this party, you should come to this party. And I'm just like, no, I I don't want to come. I don't want to come to a party and learn how to clean

You know, we all have our own expertise related fields of study and no one's emulating, especially when it comes to boundaries. And no's like, why should I be haggling my friend? I'm bringing more money for you. You are more expensive. I have more money. Yes. Why cant I give the best service to the client and its profitable to me and you at all times relative to time and quality of life required to either lose or gain

You know, I hope she does well, and, you know, I hope that she thinks, you know, she wishes me well. When we did end the business, though, she did leave the taxes on me, and I didn't know until my check got ready to get garnished and I had to pay it off

And that's why I like to keep it strictly business. It's a dollar transaction and let's leave it at that. And yeah, some things are small, like a lot of these mlms. All right, you buy some costume jewelry for $10. I'm not expecting much, right? Even some Avon lotion, no big deal. But yes, you're talking about crypto real estate

And of course, she tried to tell me, well, I have it, you know, you could get access to the recording. Well, the way I learned I have. I have no. I have no interest in watching a recorded class and learning. It's never been interesting to me. I've never. I took an online course when I was going for my MBA and absolutely hated it. And I didn't do too well in it

And, you know, when people do work from home on both sides, it could become less of a business and more of a hangout spot. So, like, my hair stylist, she has her salon in her house. When she became a mom, she husband created a salon in her house so that she can, you know, be home with her kid, but yet still take clients. Right. Because of that, she has a really open schedule. You know, I schedule online

And it's funny because even though I don't like to mix business with pleasure in terms of money, in terms of romance, I'm more open to that because I just think that, you know, that's how you meeting somebody there and you're passing up someone that could be like, you already got, you know, similar career objectives, but whatever, you and your friend look like sisters

Hey, that's a nice point you brought up that, you know, there's always, there's always a lot of avenues that get open when you do business with your friends and family. So you know, it gets you in a very mucky situations. It's better to keep some business reservations for them and then deal with it because you know, you end up in a loophole and it just gets, you know, you just get stuck in that tunnel

That because I respect this friendship, I don't want to risk losing it, you know? And there are people who've lost friends over business, over money, and I don't want to do that. And so keeping it separate is a really great idea, because the friendship is super precious. Business come and go. I've done a lot of business ventures over the years. Here and there. I've done this, I've done that

Business to business Vs Multi Level marketing

And for that reason I'm not a big fan of multi level marketing because eventually you exhaust your friends and family and alienate them in some cases. Because every time they get with you, that's what we're talking about. And they feel guilty because they don't buy it. And that when they hear you talking, you know, about people not supporting you, your friends are going to feel guilty about that. At least when they do that, I do

Hi, Tanya. How are you? I hope you're having a wonderful weekend. I. Yeah, you are, right? You've said it all here. And. And I completely. I'm into everything that you said here. And you know what's interesting? My cleaning lady. My. I have friends who want to be my cleaning lady

So multilevel marketing does ruin a lot of friendships. And I know people call it a real business, but I'm going to say, as one who's done it for many years, it's not, because what you're talking about, business to business, is a whole different level. You know, the deals that are made in the golf course are not the same kind of deals that are made in my kitchen

They're so clean. I said, is she doing multilevel marketing? And Aunt Bev knew it was going to remove a little piece of the. What was going to happen with the relationship this weekend. She lied to me. I know she did. I know she did. Because I came home and I googled, and I know this product is multilevel marketing, and they're trying to seduce me after, like, this screwdritional key that I've been handed, right?

Hey, Shona, I always love your responses. You are a masterful storyteller. You told, like, a couple different stories in five minutes, and this is great. When I first started doing the multi level marketing, you know, obviously, I'm doing it to make money, but I was never comfortable with the business practice
