Emotional Pain is like Physical Pain

article image placeholderUploaded by @ThriveLauraMonk
In other words, we often gaslight people when they are in emotional pain, saying things like, you're being too sensitive, don't overreact, just get over it. What's wrong with you? But we don't do that when people are in physical pain, do we? So essentially, we need to become just as empathetic to people's emotional pain as we would to their physical pain. Doing this with empathy, compassion, patience, and understanding

🌱 Laura talks about how emotional pain is just as important as physical pain. #Swell #Emotions #MentalHealth #Pain #Help.

Al, tag the swellcast username here so you can check it out, but really helpful. And it is so connected to physical pain in terms of its impact on the way we move through the world. It's devastating. And it's so helpful to find language to support people who are navigating this. So thank you so, so much

This is absolutely spot on, and I absolutely agree with you 100%. I happen to be a very emotional person and have never learned copic mechanisms. And my first reaction is to cry. I cry when I'm mad. I cry when I'm in pain. I cry when I. When I'm sad. I cry when I'm really happy about something. And as a child and into my adulthood, I used to get so embarrassed
