And for the longest time, I used to look down upon the very notion of getting money for your ideas. But what you are doing right now, you are part of the business potential business. You listening to this post. You are part of the business. My business now on Swell. This is not a free platform. You don't have to put any money into this except your time, energy and what you deem valuable. I guess all those three things are synonymous
Like, even when I was doing art, I had to stop doing commissions because there's these expectations of what they want, what you want to give them. And then the more pressure I put on myself, the worse I would create. And the end result was like, they were going to pay me $500, and it was not worth $500. I was embarrassed by it, and it was quite clear that the buyer was not all that impressed either
My goodness. I just remembered something. Way back when I had a website. I think it was. I had, like, a link on the side. If someone wanted to donate via PayPal, do I ever advertise it? No. Did I ever mention it? No. Did anyone donate? No. But that could have been for any number of reasons. So I guess you could say that I put it out there. But did I earn anything? No

And once I started getting those donations, it changed my whole outlook on the possibilities of what creativity could be. Because I'm going to tell you something. I'm going to be honest with you as much as I love Swell and to receive an applause to receive a laughter emoji. Nothing compares to an email notification saying that a person has donated X amount of dollars to my PayPal via Buy Me a Coffee. It's not the same thing for me

It makes me really want to start doing podcast a lot more than what I have been doing. It gives me an energy spark. It's not that swell. Doesn't do that for me, but it's just different animals. It's a different beast when you're creating podcast and you're actually putting together a show versus just talking about something for five minutes. It's a whole different thing. You get to bring in voice Callins for me and my expertise
Thank you, Dewuan. I'm skeptical. So I suppose I'm of a different mindset, but I sort of think of this as you're absolutely right. There is a vulnerability in it and putting it out there and so on. But it's almost also like this is a chance to challenge oneself if this is something difficult. And I think also what I bump up against is I have a hard time asking for help in any form, let alone money

They've been driving since they were 16. So there are still things where I need to work on to improve my life. And I guess maybe I feel if I do it really good in one area, it can sort of have this domino effect in other areas. So yeah, that's what I'm hoping for. But I only bring that point up to illustrate that I still am struggling with s*** that makes me uncomfortable that I need to do to improve my life
That's it. You know, we don't grow without challenges, the things that make us uncomfortable. Or, you know, when we want more, I suppose in a weird way, I'm kind of jealous of you, dawn, you know, starting this new adventure, you know, know, taking your driver's test and getting your permit and license because I absolutely love to drive. And so I know not everybody does
