Morgan Wallen & The N-Word

article image placeholderMorgan Wallen’s Career Death Sentence
So really, until hip hop takes a look at cleaning the N word out of music, this s*** is going to continue, especially with the younger generation. So I'm running out of time on my swell would love your feedback. This thing has multi layers and we need to talk about it. Alright, Charles, have a great day

I know that there was one black country singer who was famous for this one clip that was like everywhere on YouTube, I think was on America's Got Talent or something like that. And he was black and started singing a country song, and everyone was so shook and blown away because he was black, not expecting it. That's very telling a music genre. An entire music genre should not be so exclusive to a race, especially a race that is a minority

Owning words vs retiring them

And my gut as a queer woman is that adopting queer is a whole different thing as a word in a pride way because it doesn't have the tendrils of the violent thousands of years of history. Really. So it's easier to say this is our word. Now let's use it with pride. I find it difficult to hear the N word in celebration. It's just a cognitive dissonance for me. So I honor the complexity you just shared

Hey, Izzy, I just heard your comment and thank you for your perspective. It's it's. Yeah, I agree. Just shut up. Don't use it if it's going to be something. I mean, it's an obvious basic thing, but we know historically, people at the core of who they are is we all what we say and there's core racism

"Queer" Vs "N-Word"

If you see most of the artists who are toxic, they use it. Every other phrase. I applaud Kendrick Lamar. He made a decision not to. I applaud one of my heroes, even though he wasn't the best role model was Richard Pryor. Richard Pryor made a decision to never use it again after he went to Africa. And I'll leave it at that. But you're never going to get rid of it. My second point is because the labels make so much money

@Joylove @TommyB3000 the currency of words

Hey, Brandy, thank you so much for your comments. And you're right. When things are so simple, it's Easy's point. Like, why can't things be so simple? But it's it's complicated and it's messy. And we're all in this conversation conversation to stay in the messy, I guess. Tommy, by the way, your point about N Word creating a whole economy. You're totally shocked me. And you're totally right
