Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

But I did have to stay overnight in the hospital for several days and I chatted a lot with this nurse and I can't remember exactly why she brought this book up, but she did and it really stuck with me because anything involving World War II, I generally am interested in that entire period. The interwar years through World War II and it's aftermath have always been of particular interest to me, and I remember the nurse had told me that Victor Finkel was a Holocaust survivor

Hi, Bowie I have not read the book. I have heard about it. So many books, so little time, but really, really, really interested to hearing your thoughts about the book. So keep posting. Thanks

I've finished!

So I just finished this book this weekend and I have to say it's totally worth a read. It's broken up into two parts. The first part is mostly memoir and kind of part psychological theory, but it's definitely more based in memoir of Victor Finkel's experiences in the concentration camps that he was in throughout the four years that he was held prisoner during World War II

@MerelyHuman reading anything good this semester?

And I think that kind of hope for humanity is something that we will always need. This book. I 100% understand why it's a classic and why it has sold so many copies. There's just so much here, and it's really not that long of a book. So, Hans, you so much for sharing your thoughts. It's great to know that there are others out there having read a lot of the same things that are important and have moved a lot of people

I wouldn’t wish suffering on anyone but.... @bowie @MerelyHuman

We talk so often about post traumatic stress, and we always assume that the natural response to suffering is to suffer further and to suffer for longer and suffer for the rest of our lives. And although that's true, I think there is another option and growth is the other option. And to what merely human said, forgive me. I have kids yelling in the background for what merely human said. I am so in agreement with you. I literally recorded on a podcast
