Psychedelic assisted psychotherapy and the fight against PTSD, depression and other anxiety disorders

article image placeholderCan Psychedelics Make You Less Depressed? | The War on Drugs
And it sort of walks you through in a very succinct summarized version, how we've arrived in this current position, where there are multiple studies happening all over the world that are proving, without a shadow of a doubt that there's a direct relationship or correlation between psychedelics and positive results in these sort of treatments for things like post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and having them still listed as Schedule One narcotics

It's easy because I've heard that pharmaceutical companies are trying to get hold of it and make a synthetic version, which is just contraindictive to the very nature of a natural herb. So, yeah, I think it's fascinating that the world of mental health is now leaning towards psychedelics and the use of these PTSD mental health issues. Amazing. I'm loving this. Australia is just as conservative as many places in the US. Unfortunately, I've lived in Europe

And then you look at a country like I think it was Norway and then Portugal, where they're deliberately compassionately, trying to deal with the situation in a way that puts rehabilitation at the forefront, because I think all of us have known somebody that we lost to substance abuse or whether they passed away or the friendship deteriorated

Supportive not Punitive

They were Dutch and I learned to fly and climb beach needle on sale. I went to school with them and stuff. They were telling me that when they had raised for people in their 20s, got these big dance parties, these Duff Duffs and they had raves. They had people outside the front testing people's party, drugs like everybody was into ecstasy in the 90s. You're probably too young to remember

Yes to Europe!

But I think beyond that, one of the problems that I've seen firsthand in person is that somebody will be having a bad experience with whatever substance they're on. And it's very obvious that they're having bad experiences because you can spot it from a mile away. And those people are afraid to seek medical attention for fear of some sort of punishment, and that's bad people are going to be taking these substances anyways

Education is Key

And in my twenties, I remember thinking, you know, nothing, and that's the problem. So also, when my son was going to school, he'd come home from school and say, hey, we had some drug experts come to school today and they were telling us everything about drugs. Did you know that marijuana is the most addictive drug in the world? And it's the most harmful, like, it will destroy your life?

War Veterans with PTSD find relief with Cannabis

And then my friend said to me, no, everybody steals each other's bikes. I was like, what I thought the Dutch were amazing and they're like, no, it doesn't matter what sort of lock you put on your bike. Everybody just steals somebody else's bike. This is in a student town called the Hornigan, in the north of Holland, in a county called Fretland. And I was amazed that there's all this going on around bikes

Hey, Georgie D. I'm not sure if you saw the news, but in the United States, the House approved to decriminalize marijuana federally. While this won't necessarily change a lot right now, it certainly indicates that the social understanding or acceptance of marijuana is indeed evolving right before our very eyes. I thought it was a very interesting development. So I'm going to link an article here just so you can read a little more about it
