New Zealand elections postponed by a month!

We made a big deal about any postponing the elections here, and I think that should hold true out in democracy if you set the rules because that sets the precedent for a slippery slope right now, while it is clear that she is doing this in an attempt to try to be very fair and not take advantage of the situation, I'm afraid that it opens the door for any party to just cry foul, saying like, hey, we are not doing as well in the polls right now

Opposite scenario from US. But is it okay?

Then you could say, Well, let's postpone the election. But the other issue is we've now been in this for five months or more, and we knew an election was coming up rather than try to destroy people's ability to vote, why was another system not implemented that allowed them to vote safely from a remote location? I mean, this is the President. This is the government, right? Why was something not done? So that's a bigger question for me

But it turned out that he had dismantled that very infrastructure and not only that, for some reason, decided to politicize this and completely go in the opposite direction. In other words, he took a golden opportunity that was kind of almost handed it to him and totally flushed it down

Campaign on Swell!

Everybody is circling that day and saying that's the day we're going to invoke change. So I think even any discussion of potentially moving it would bring just more angst and uncertainty and anxiousness to people that are looking at that date to invoke change or to keep things the same. Now, as Joe said, we've had five months to figure this out, and we still have three months to figure out how we can vote safely and securely

There is no issue in terms of us being able to get access to voting. The Postal Service is very effective and so we expect that the vast majority of people will be electing either will be registering their votes either electronically or using the postal vote, and then options will be available for us to also vote at the normal voting ballot centers on the day in itself. So postal votes, et cetera, et cetera

In terms of setting a precedent for the United States electoral process, I will not be drawn to that particular processor. Obviously, the US electoral process, in terms of it relates to the presidential election is highly complex series of circumstances which is going on in there, and all I can say is that I think the United States clearly finds itself in a fairly invidious position and in a circumstance to which I would not wish to be a part of myself

Monty, I'm glad you finally made it over here and we're able to shed some light. It sounds like everything's going much more smoothly in New Zealand than it is here. Prize. I still think about the conversation we had in New York City, just about a month or so before the 2016 election. What America was going to look like if he won. And, well, this is what it looks like. Lucky us. Right? Help you stick around
