Heart rate training

And usually the way a circuit is built is that you have a strength exercise and then a conditioning exercise, so you might have a Press up and there's some skipping. But what I found, although it builds some sort of general fitness, you're not really hitting any area enough to sort of build any kind of sustained conditioning. So, for instance, just one example is that you might have somebody worked at 130 to 140 beats per minute or 135 beats per minute for ten minutes

The benefits of using a heart rate monitor for general conditioning

HRM is a must!

I spade your enthusiasm for really knowing that heart rate as you're working out and doing that. So I'm curious, who do you train? Boxing? I follow boxing pretty religiously, and I've gotten quite deep into it, and I've followed a lot of boxers in the UK, so I'm curious if it's anybody we know. Thanks, Mark

And there are some days where I need to do regenerative workout. I need to sort of recover the recovery workout now. So you've got it, man. Spot on. It's very cool just to know, how do you know about this? Because not many people do. Unless you have studied it or you've had a really good trainer and you kind of know your stuff. Or maybe you're just really interested in it. Have you done a sport or something?

And I don't know, I didn't want to work on the same level. But now I'm working with a girl who works with the England squad. She's one of the coaches, and I'm taking her through the process. We had to stop because of Kobe. We were about to restart that. And I have a friend who is in boxing as well, and he is doing good. He's got a good stable and I'll be going down to see him

Programs

And I have a fantastic personal trainer that helped me out in getting. One of the first things that we did is I get on a treadmill and they have a program. You tape the mask to your face and you're basically doing a stress test. But within that stress test, the output is your zones

Boxing

And I thought if they're going to go through all that, the least that they deserve is somebody with common sense that is going to assess them three minutes at a time inside the ring. And the guy who actually pushed me over the edge was the boxing referee, Joe Cortez. And he said, Phil, you got to get involved. I was randomly out to dinner with him one night, and he said, Man, when are you going to get involved? Boxing needs somebody like you

Hey, Phil, How's it going? You know, that's fantastic. I know Life Fitness. I know that they're treadmills, you know, I know they make treadmill stuff we don't have as far as I know, the gyms here, they make me major. I'm not sure, but that's great. Using that standard of testing for you guys. I take clients sometimes to a performance lab

I agree on your thoughts on the cruser weight devision @phil

And my certificate was signed by David Hayden, Edinburgh. And it was the craziest thing in the world because we'd be locked away in a gym somewhere with heavy champ and his trainer and his conditioning coach. There was a time where when he was fighting for heavyweight, he fought. I can't remember the guy's name, but he gave my wife and I ringside seats. And at that point, I was already working in a boxing gym as well as working in another gym

@Phil Joe Cortez

Now, I tend to like the box over the more aggressive fighters, so it doesn't matter if someone's coming forward. I like the more Sugary Leonard style of fighter alley. That kind of stuff. I'd like to know what you thought of a fight that some people can test. Sugar Alana versus Marvin Hagler. Now I saw that I was young. I went with my dad. We watched it as a younger, teenage guy kid, and we watched it on satellite

And if I work out, I know how many calories I burned, and that's how much I should be eating. And when people think about diet, they always think about restricting what you're eating. And this analysis told me that I wasn't eating enough and that I should be eating more. But eating smarter. And so we conducted a plan on increasing fiber, making sure that I'm getting enough protein in every meal, really increasing the fiber

Mediation

So what I do is if people contact me before they are going in to surgery and then I can help them prepare for the surgery or for treatment, or they hire me because they want to get a better understanding about fitness through the journey. So I worked with them before and then through the journey and afterwards, post surgery or post treatment

@Phil Floyd Mayweather v Ricky Hatton

If you see him, if you ever meet him, he's put on weight. He's big. He's a big guy. He's a scary guy. He's got a presence. And he's a pretty powerful looking guy. So I can see why Floyd was a little bit scared of him. But of course, Floyd, I feel that's one of the fights, I thought that Ricky Hatton really brought out the best of Floyd skills

So I take the rounds that are easy to score and just say, hey, there should be no doubt about that one. But these close rounds, let's take a look at that. And I always get another thing that drives me nuts is the term robbery. This was a robbery. And a lot of the times, what they're saying is that they don't like the way fights are scored. And it's just like that's. Fine

Leonard HagleR: Sorcery at Ceasars

You got to say, Well, man, he didn't do anything for two minutes, and then he definitely won the last half or the last three quarters or last quarter of the fight of the round. Does that give him enough? And it can be really tough? And you could say, well, just score an even round. And I do think they need to use even rounds more, especially in round one, when there's not a lot of punches thrown

Love hearing your breakdown of how you personally score a fight @Phil

That's something I haven't thought about, because like I said, sometimes it's around with my wife thinks somebody won or I think somebody else won. So it's good that you look at those definitive rounds and then make a decision on the close ones. Twelve individual fights. That's interesting. Now, the first Holy Lennox Lewis fight was a draw, and I personally felt the Holy Spirit won that fight. I scored it a number of times. They did it

@Phil Sugar Ray v Hagler

Okay, you got. Excuse me. I'm cutting off onions here. Just cooking. But the lettuce had the fight. So now I've met Sugar a he is one. So this is great. Haglers, you're here. Don't get me wrong. I love Hagler at the time as well. When it came to it, Sugaray was my man after Ally. Sugar Leonard is my favorite box of one of my favorite boxes of all time
