Why do we have nightmares?

article image placeholdernightmare
But do we need to do it in our sleep? Because I think it's fair to say that sometimes nightmares are more terrifying than real life. So what are your thoughts? Do nightmares have a purpose? And if so, what is it? And if you'd like to share a nightmare of yours, that's fine, too

Is there a point to nightmares? What do you think? #dreams #nightmares #psychology #brain #nightterror

So any face that we see in our dreams, it's a face that we've seen in our lives somewhere before. But we don't have that same kind of evidence for the events and dreams themselves. I know I have a nightmare that's reoccurring that I've had for very long time. As long as I can remember that I'm swimming in a sea of chocolate. And there's, like, this chocolate shark that's coming after me

Premonitions or facing fears 🤔 @Izzy

I think it's interesting that you bring up how nightmares allow us to experience things we've never experienced before, which is intriguing because you'd think that if you're supposed to dream about something scary, it's something you'd have to confront. And maybe maybe your dreams are encouraging you to confront that fear of the depth of the ocean. I'm not sure. I think other times dreams might be premonitions and nightmares, too
