Session Three: To Quote or Not to Quote

So I want to talk about circumstances when quoting other people really can lift your own words and when it's appropriate. And when it's not. I think the first most obvious thing is when you're doing a public speech using a quote from somebody else sort of gives people a chance to think about a larger view than what you're presenting to them. And they see your humility. They see that you're someone who has a global perspective and that you're looking into other worlds Besides your own

Quoting others to lift your own thoughts

When is it Not great to quote ?

If you're going to quote know the perfect quote itself, don't paraphrase and make sure you know who said it. And that way it really lands because probably it became a quote because of the very use of the words and the order in which the words were used and the vocabulary itself. And if you start paraphrasing, you're going to lose the power of that quote. So those are two scenarios where I would not quote less is more is a good rule there. Okay
