Doom Days Lyrics by Bastille

Doom, doom, Doom Days Lyrics by Bastille Watch the world burn All I think about is you There must be something in the cool aid cruising through these doom days God knows what's real and what is fake. Last couple of years have been a mad trip but how do you all look so perfect? You must have some portraits in the attic We'll stay offline so no one gets hurt hiding from the real world just don't read the comments ever. Ever

Social Commentary through lyrics ( language warning) spoken word to my piano

Can you find the references?

As you folks all love questions. Let's add some to this swell. There are many references in these lyrics. It's one of the reasons why I like Bastille intelligent musicians, rich lyrics, references to literature, arts, culture, social media, and history. Probably a few other things as well. Lots of literature actually. Loads. Have a look. Have a listen. Can you see them? Can you find them? What are they?

Thank you, @GeorgieDee. πŸ™πŸ»

I love this song. Thank you for initially introducing it to me because I don't know how I missed it. I love Bastille's music, but this one slipped by me. If you had asked me off the top of my head to give you some references, I wouldn't have been able to do it

Hey, Georgie, the references that came to my mind, the first very obvious one where he refers to Peter Pan. The second is the term proud remainders, which is probably alluding to the Brexit issue. And then he talks about climate change when he says that we ruined this house, right? I'm not using the effort here, but I think that's what he means there. These are my references

@wordsmith @SeekingPlumb yes!

Totally the Peter Pan, one of my favorite authors and one of my favorite books. Everybody's trying to stay young forever. And that's again, to do with image as well. And interesting that you mentioned Brexit, because I didn't pick up on that one. And this banned his English so well done. And, yeah, save the planet. Environment, global warming, et cetera, et cetera. There's a bunch more ladies. Shall I give you some clues?

@GeorgieDee @wordsmith

I'm assuming you're referring to Alice in Wonderland with a rabbit hole final days of Rome. Well, we could interpret that to be the Roman Empire, and then sort of maybe translate that to the craziness going on in the US and how there is a concern of the survival of the country. And then scrolling horror show, I'm guessing is something thing like any one of our social media feeds. As we scroll through the crazy headlines, the crazy opinions

Yes. Yes. Seeking Plum. Well done. I feel very teacher each day. I'm like now, children, can you find the secret messages hidden in these lyrics? Definitely. Alice in the Wonderland? Alice in the Wonderland, Alice the Looking Glass and Alice in Wonderland down the rabbit hole entering a new dimension exploring new realities. Perfect. Final days of Rome. Definitely. It's all about the downfall of civilization. The deconstruction of civilization. What was the other one you mentioned?

Oh wow. I had no memory of the Alice reference in this scene!, how perfect!

I imagine that right now you're feeling a bit like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole. This is your last chance. After this, there is no. And turning back, you take the blue pill. The story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to do. You take the red pill. You stay in Wonderland. And I show you how deep the rabbit at homes

@GeorgieDee

It's funny, because when I thought of the two pills, that's always how I sort of thought about it. But I guess I just didn't remember that there was that reference in there. How funny

Hey, Georgie. So Besides the obvious reference to climate change analysis through The Looking Glass and Peter Pan, there were others that kind of stood out for me. So the line that goes, let's pick the truth that we believe in. I guess this talks about fake news and disinformation that polarizes us. And the line on Tell Me Your original since Maybe refers to the culture of oversharing on social media. But that's just my view. And the line on live streaming the final days of Room

@NamelessJournal Great ideas πŸ‘

And intercultural, like not cultural, creative movies and books, art things that are all mixed up together. Yeah. I love this band, man. This song is so intelligent. Yeah. You said people like to put all their dirty laundry on the internet as well. There's kind of that voyeuristic thing and the pick the truth that you believe in. I liked your take on that where. But also it goes back again to fake news. What is really true? What is a fact anymore?

What a great song. I love that band. Actually, lyrics are wonderful, multilayered cultural, political and sociological and very awesome. I'm from California, so I say things like awesome. I have a completely unrelated and possibly stupid question. How does everyone get icons on their swell, like the prayer icon or the thumb up icon? Or can you only do that with an Apple and not an Android? Thousands of questions about they speak 1000 words. Not really

What more compliments? Oh my gosh. I don't know if I could take it this early in the morning. It is 09:20 a.m. In Western Australia. Thanks, Sean. I've done lots of performing arts and singing and dancing and a bit of acting and blah, blah, blah and some casting all hobbies don't want to make a career, but I'm Super happy to be creative in spaces like this, and my friends all get to hear me sing all the time

Oh, this was so fun to listen to. Everyone is so paying attention. It's great. I want to add one more the last two words. Night, night, night because they followed sort of watching the world fall. And I was thinking about Ali Wiesel, the amazing writer who survived the Holocaust. And he wrote a beautiful book, intense book called Night. And it really describes the destruction of the world in so many ways. But the resilience of the spirit at the same time

Thanks, Dee. That's amazing. That book by the Holocaust survivor called Night. Look at you. Picking up references. Yes. You noticed the atmosphere of this. Swell. You said everyone's paying attention. That's because teacher Georgie got online. This is all of them. So after I listen to it again, I'm like, oh, my gosh, I'm such a teacher. Sometimes. Well done students. Top of the class. You noticed this and this excellent job
