So How's your work ethic? Do you feel guilty when you have a sick day tomorrow? It's going to be 39 degrees Celsius in Perth, and I haven't been able to go to the beach for ages because the weather's been rubbish on the weekends. I'm not a teacher at the moment. I'm in management, so I can do my work wherever I want. I can work from home in the evening

Do you ever chuck a sickie and feel guilty?

Yes and no - conditioning with a ā€˜Cā€™

You know, if I were to stay away from work because of ill health or something like that, when there is a lot of work to be done, something critical to be delivered, and if I'm away, I would feel guilty, terribly guilty, but otherwise not so much because I know that with the luxury of being able to work remotely and being able to work whenever you can, because in today's world, we don't necessarily follow the typical nine to five and are able to log in and get work done whenever we can whenever possible

I need that routine, of work. šŸ˜† @GeorgieDee

I don't know what to do at the house. It's weird. It's like I don't know what to do with myself. Once I'm out of that routine, it can be hard at times to do stuff and my creativity, I realize, also suffers when I don't go to work. I would have to plan months in advance of vacation to where I could feel content and comfortable once that vacation begins, that I'll have that mindset where I'll be okay

2003 I was unemployed @wordsmith @Wuandurful

All teachers having issues, students having issues, but I can leave early, but sometimes it's good to get there late and finish late so that you're there for the people who finish later, et cetera, blah blah blah. So it's kind of flexible but not flexible, but at the moment there are no classes, so there's no teachers calling him sick, which is brilliant. So I'm not stressed or on alert in the morning, but I have the same thing as you like

I end up beating myself up over the fact that I'm ditching work for relaxing, and there is this sense of guilt that immediately comes up and completely ruins things for me. So Vacation Guild is really a big thing for me. In fact, I would be really grateful if someone would share some helpful advice on how one could possibly deal with this

Show up well šŸ˜‡ @NamelessJournal @GeorgieDee

Hey, nameless. Wonderful wordsmith, Georgie. D, you know. Yeah, this is a good one. I think I've been a workaholic pretty much my entire adult working life, and I completely agree with you, too. Nameless did have a sense of vacation guilt, like I couldn't get away. But that was mostly in positions where I was in charge and admittedly most of the positions I've held. I've been in some sort of either management or the number one

Donā€™t feel guilty!

So I've never felt guilty about taking a sick day when I'm sick. I need to get better so I don't infect other people for one and I don't want to be doing my job. Sub par. I want to do a great job at my work. So one thing that I took a couple of days off from my current job because the internet is messed up but there's nothing I can do about that, so I don't feel guilty about it

@Wuandurful @GeorgieDee

Hey, Georgie. Georgie, D, that's a very interesting scenario you painted there being in management. Now, instead of teaching, you have more flexibility ability. And I say, go for it. I was very despite definitely say that I was very conditioned to work during work hours, and it took a while to kind of change that up oftentimes

15 years and no Coffee Mug of appreciation or certificate? Lol @Hans

So a lot of the repeat offenders we'll call them, they'll come back and they'll say, Dang, man, are you still here or they'll say something like, oh, you work here still. And I'm in the uniform and it's like, yeah, no, I'm actually just visiting. Just visiting, seeing how things are going. Yes, I still work here. Shut the h*** up. You're still here, too, with an addiction problem

Compartmentalisation

How have I managed a program so that it's helped people change their life? And like you drawn, we're dealing with people who have come out of prison or rehab or their street kids, or they've got drug problems, mental health issues, learning disabilities. So on the razor's edge of that kind of cohort of students is super rewarding. But I still feel stupidly guilty when I take a day off. Whether it be sick or attitude adjustment day

The beach is calling me

Good morning, everybody. Good morning, Georgie. I'm definitely a very punctual workaholic, but on that note, I heard that it's going to be hot in Australia, and I decided to take a week off, and I don't feel guilty whatsoever

Ok, are beaches arenā€™t that bad! @ezrajwild @Wuandurful

I think that's a wonderful boundary filled and very mature way of looking at it because I think you're able to identify what's important to you and what's not important to you. And wonderful. I just laughed out loud because just, of course, some of the things you said and it reminded me of that story. And it's so sort of apropos for realizing what Georgie Dee has realized, why you do what you do and what value you get out of the job you serve
