Social Audio Friendships

Would you get on a plane and go and visit people who you had never met before? But you'd gotten to know in audio how Dee do you think your connections can develop in a platform such as this one

How deeply can we connect through social audio @UnityEagle @Markrfitness @topgold @omaniblog #socialaudio

@FryedOreo
Dewuan .
@FryedOreo · 4:48

I’ve been meeting people off the web forever, but for dating purposes. lol

But I don't think I've ever strongly wanted to meet anyone in the flesh from social audio. It's not that it's absolutely something I'll never do. But I think the connection for me is more of the mental connection, and the physical aspect and component is just something that doesn't even enter or register my mind. I guess for me that's like a plenty of fish or a Facebook dating that's Wiese

Same same but different @Wuandurful Etiquette & language warning 🛑

Hey, I've also been online for many years. I don't think I've been doing audio for as long as you. Unless you count all the tape cassettes that I used to make and send to my friends in England when we emigrated to Hong Kong. So then I was doing audio from the age of nine. Old school technology. But, yeah, I did online dating for twelve years. I stopped about two years ago, but definitely online connection

Real women belch! 😆 @GeorgieDee

Georgie Wiese Lady. Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. She's a lady. Thank you for the responses to my response. And, yeah, on the to illustrate it to why I've been on social audio for so long, because I've just been around it for a long time. Each couple of years there. I do hear of a meet up in the works. People want to meet up from the app, which is natural. You're in a community

😅 is advisey a word? 😅

I'm getting on audio to perform like this is me 100% of the time. How you should try that in your other life. Try into it. Just a suggestion, not being advisory. Okay, I'm being a lot of Izzy

Oh, by the way, John, I am so impressed that you sang to me. And if I have to belch to make that happen, I'm going to pull a few more tricks out of the hat, man, because I like it when you get performing, get more performing for me. Adviser

Performing arts!!

My style is the type of performance where you can't tell if I'm being sincere or not or real or not. So it's like a form of method acting. So there are times that I can talk about a topic or subject that I really don't necessarily have any stake in, but I know that it can be provocative at times. So playing against type of what people tend to expect is a way in which my performance can be unleashed. Some may not even see that as performance

@NamelessJournal, @bowie Tagged you guys because I mentioned you 🤷🏽‍♀️

That's great. That is awesome. So we're talking about social connectivity and through audio meeting people real connections. And also Dewuan brought up the thing about he is more of a social audio performer kind of a thing, a method actor. And he looks at everything as a show. So he's not really there as a connection. And I can see both sides of it. I don't know myself. I am an actress
@SeekingPlumb

Audio more fully fills out the perceived image vs text.

Oh, my goodness. Dealing with lots of frogs and camels over here. Definitely. This is all anecdotal but many, many eons ago, I met a few other women online, and it was on a site that was sort of like, like, I'd say, the long version of Facebook. So there Wiese, sort of like diary entries, what's going on in your life, whatever your thoughts are. And then you could comment on it, and it sort of created this bond

Thanks for the tag @bookishpodcast, much ❤!

I'm not much of a talker, and I've come to realize that if you don't stay in constant touch with people, it's hard, hard to keep the momentum of the relationship going, but this last year has been revolatory to me in so many aspects, one of them being the wisdom that yes, it is indeed possible to make real connections online and swell particularly has been serendipitous for me in the sense that I did audio meet Shana's, aka Bookish podcast right here, and I'm really grateful for that

Awww! You are so sweet @NamelessJournal 🥰

I feel like it's a possibility that we both would take an effort to meet each other and have a coffee. Oh, my gosh. I'm so excited about the books you're going to get me. Can you just tell me what so I can read them? Or maybe you shouldn't, because then I'll wait for them. You're a doll. You're so cute. Yeah, but this is it

If a meetup doesn’t go well, you at least get more material @Wuandurful

And I was doing this and realized there's a lot of people in the San Francisco Bay Area doing this, and someone was actually meeting up with other people. And that was a revelation that you could do that. I remember at one point going to a movie and having dinner with this guy. We totally had nothing in common. It was interesting, but he puts everything into his Journal. And so I kind of knew who he was, and he was just like that in person

SwellCon?

But pick a hotel somewhere in a Metropolitan area that is close to several Swellers. Is that what we're called Swellers? And every year it will be in a different location around the world. And everyone can just go and meet and have an IRL experience. What do you think

Thank you @Tim

Tim, thank you so much for that. John Craig? Yes. I don't really see him that often these days on the social audio apps. So the name slipped me. I know him and Colin Flynn, right? Colin Flynn. I know they got their podcast, or at least they had their podcast. I don't really know. By the time they start doing their podcast, I wasn't even doing podcast yet

@Wuandurful

Hey, Dewuan, I'm really sorry, but I'm busy this weekend, and that's what I'm talking about. I mean, it's not like, I don't like you or anything. I think it's an introvert thing that we need X number of interactions and X number of certain kind of interactions where we can ultimately connect with someone, and then we're okay to meet them. And that's what I'm talking about

Thanks, everyone, for all your comments. I'm really enjoying listening to this conversation. Tim. I've got to say that's hilarious that the guy put in his Journal that it was uninteresting. I really enjoyed my meetups. Was I lucky? Or maybe the other people didn't enjoy them as much as me. How could you tell they weren't writing a Journal too funny, red Todd. I'm an introvert extrovert

Sign me up for the Swell Con!!!

That's it. Hello. Hello. And that's it. The rest of the people will just like their focus will get fuzzy around the rest of the people. And that's it. If anyone else comes up to me, I'll probably just kind of pretend that I didn't see them because focus gets fuzzy. So yeah, that's how I would handle SWALK on. If I'm at SWALK on, people would know because I'd have sent you a private message already

Shanas, I totally hear what you're saying. And I'm same, but different. So, yes, I used to do that. I used to go to group gatherings, and I would just connect with a couple of people and have conversations with them. However, at the age agent stage where I just can't bear group gatherings. So if I went, this is what would happen. I'd rock up

Georgie, my version is Doable, but yours rocks it, man. I mean, totally. Your version is the version we should live for. I mean, spiking everyone's with LSD. I mean, what can you better than that? I mean, mean, seriously, come on. And at that point, who cares? We'll all be having a great time. And would any one of us know whether we're introverts or extroverts? We just be like, great

100 %

I use it with all sorts. We have a group on there and there's people who come from other platforms to Snapchat. We use it to message each other. Really not so much for stories anymore, but although I post the odd random thing there on other stories because it doesn't really matter what you're posting. You can post anything you like. I saw one seat of Ferrari yesterday and I put that out the other app I was going to say which has created relationships for me is Periscope
@MarkR
Mark Francis Rahaman
@MarkR · 5:00

Yes

Always special until you meet people, it's the same. It's just an extension. And the apps that aren't so much like that, like Instagram. Instagram is a great platform because you can put your post pictures there, right? You can go live there. You can have stories there. You've got everything there, but still it's shallow to me. I don't love the platform because there's not that many connections made real connection. I would say that I loved Lebow

Yeah, I wanted to. I was surprised you smoked. I think. I think that was one of the things I was surprised at as well, but I wouldn't know that, right. But we had fun. Yeah, man, what a cool thing you did. That was really cool. Now, Paul, I missed meeting Paul. He did come to London a couple of times and we didn't get it together

You were like, wow, you're tall. I get that a lot when I stand up, Mark, because I have really long legs and quite a short. Well, not a short body, but average body and really long legs. So when I'm sitting down, people have no idea. And then I stand up and they kind of look up to me and go, oh, you're hilarious

Boundaried not Negative 👍@MerelyHuman @Wuandurful

And I mean, that relates to my teaching as well. A lot of my students want to be friends with me outside of work, and it's just not possible. I don't have the energy for it because they get so much of me in the class. If you're going to say that was negative, then you could say that what Dewuan said was negative when he's talking about how he sees social audio as a performance, and I wouldn't judge him either

@GeorgieDee my love of these connections started ...

I might just for the sake of documenting what I'm doing, take a snap and share it one another. I think the dimensions of real conversation, aided by Swell or any other really good app, are essential. Remind me of when I used to make recordings for my mom and dad. I would record on a cassette player that was in a map case that I carried on a walk around my snow covered campus in Colorado in my first year away from home

@Wuandurful I want to see if people are audio performers

I really wanted to market with something that was more relaxing than just a backpacking experience. It felt like a backpacking experience. And like I said, there are friends of mine who could have lifted the moment beyond just conversation to another dimension. Some of it's shared conversation. And then there's other food and recreational activities. I wish we'd done that because I can sense in her voice in Georgia's voice of freedom of expression and a wide range of interests to explore life

Negatives 🙌

It's a very interesting conversation. You're right. There are no negatives here. Like you said to the captain, I found the captain really interesting. What's your name? What's my nickname? I've had a few nicknames, actually. Over the years, I can tell you my nickname if you want me to, but I wanted to know what you have. Do I know my nickname? What is my nickname

@Wuandurful where is MoMac these days?

Dawn. Did I ask this? I can't remember what happened to Moomac attack. Where is he? And one of the reasons I enjoyed following you on Anchor is listening to your voice. Go through the mixers. Could tell Pinhole Mike, Big Mike. Based on how you were putting out the volume. What is the story of romance? Where is he? I always think of a car in Romanian and auto repair on the streets of New York. Where do you go

@GeorgieDee I wish Robert Neill had visited. He was so close.

I just wanted to have the Earthy resonance of the space and the people that he would not have seen with him walking the path next to where I live. And I miss that because he's such a perceptive guy, especially in the space of social disruption. That's my throwaway comment today. I've had my two cups of coffee before this. Thanks to your grinding bye for now

Momac seems done, with all of this. Lol.. and that’s fine. 🙏 @topgold

So that time is sped up and more rapid online for me, I can quickly get into something without having to ask people what's their age, where they were born. That stuff small talk. That stuff is boring for me, which is why I like social audio, like, Swell, where you can go in depth about topics. Okay, so let's talk about MoMac, for all intents and purposes, I think has just done away with social media, and he's content with that

Mr. Gloves, Boxing Fury. Markie. Mark, I don't know. Your name is so easy and simple, but it's easy. When people have have long, unusual handles. They're beautiful. And the meaning behind them is fantastic. But when you're calling them by name, it becomes unwieldy because I use people's names often. When I speak, it's one of my habits. So Mark is just too easy. Marky Marks, that's a good one
