Just finished the legendary "Shogun," by James Clavell. Things I loved, things I didn’t and things that surprised me!

And clearly James Cole found things that he found fascinating about medieval Japan that were not relevant for driving the plot forward, but just made him happy or something that he found fun and interesting. So he created situations so he could enter that piece of information. These could be incredibly mundane things about what phrases people commonly said, what Idioms were used, where they came from, so not necessary for driving the plot forward. But I found it to be a really fun method of storytelling

Hey, Kono, thank you so much for that. Swell. I also appreciate the recommendation. I've always been meaning to take a deeper dive into Japanese history and especially in terms of colonial and the history of Empire. And I am also a fan of politics and everything that all byproducts that political systems have given rise to. So I really appreciate the review and I will make sure that I get myself copy of this. Thank you so much
