Recommending a Pokémon game to a first time player!
So I guess what I'm trying to do is decouple my recommendation for where he starts from my own nostalgia, and I'm not entirely sure that I can do something like that with something I have such a strong past with and strong feelings for. So the other factor here is that I'm also hesitant to recommend the original versions of earlier games because they may feel a bit inaccessible, lacking a lot of quality of life stuff that a modern player might expect
