Whitey And The Wokeness

Sun goes down at four in the afternoon, everybody's shivering. Nobody wants to go on the parade. And then it starts to make sense. Because it was funny. Things are allowed to be funny, even if they're not necessarily politically correct. And I think it's important that we don't play into the narrative of the right, that the left want to police every thought and every idea

I miss nuance 😭

But when you stop feeling that way or thinking about it in that way, your ability to analyze and think critically and consider the nuances of context and especially something like comedy. It's really hard to have a relationship with it right now. If you're in that teams or binary way of thinking at the same time. I do also understand how people are very easily reactionary on both sides, because the culture we're in right now has been nothing but inflammatory, like nonstop for four years

I think a lot of people need the last comedian that nailed that and perfected. It was George Carlin. And since him, I think most comedians are just scared of making pointed criticisms about society. And I think that the cancel culture that he's talking about when it's taken to the degree that he's talking about, it's certainly not helping. It is making things much more divisive

Let's hope, Joe, that this is the beginning of a long stretch of meeting at the center. And for Centrism to revive itself from being the extremely polarized left and right. Can we all embrace Centrism for a while? I would love to see if that's going to happen

I agree with you all, and some middle aged Whitey Whiteman perspective...

And if we can't have that anymore, if we try to police that out, I don't know what becomes of us. We have to be able to let that guy. That one point. Oh, guy be ridiculed by his better self. And for that better self, to be able to ridicule those who still are saying things like, we don't need diversity because it's the only way it seems to work, where we move forward

Hey Joe, I listened to your reply late last night and really resonated with a lot of your a lot with a lot of what you were saying. And then I wanted to listen to you again this morning and I've been am trying to wrap my head around because I agree with so much of what you're saying. And I think especially what's so beautiful about comedy is my favorite. Comedians are able to do exactly what you said. That bird did

I've never seen friendships and families destroyed over the ego of one individual and the horrible things he will do to preserve his ego. And so, yes, as a result, it becomes more difficult to make fun of it, to laugh about it because so much of it isn't funny. It's instead profoundly sad. And, you know, the aspect of SNL being involved is kind of interesting to me

Hey, Joe, to your point that you have never seen conspiracy theorists being so empowered. I think the reason for that is because they have an audience. Actually, I stand corrected. They've always had an audience. I think right now with the advent of social media, they have a medium through which they can get to their audience. I guess this goes back to my big beef with social networks as being the really bad guys. Not to say that

And we have a caste system which has the upper cost and the lower cost and systemic racism that we have managed to ingrain in our system for several thousand years. And yes, we are all work right now, and we are trying to fight this. And especially, I would argue people of my generation and younger are fighting the good fight and change is creeping in

And now somehow they understand everything better than everybody else because they have the newsletter 2.0, the one that beams right into their phones and onto their laptops. And it's a big problem. And I see now Facebook is claiming we have misinformation under control. You have it under control the same way the Trump administration has coronavirus under control, you silly b******. Zuckerberg. You let it blossom at the outset when you needed to kill it. You said it wasn't a problem

That kind of thing is indicative of the momentum, because before that would have never been a struggle that he could have made comedic material about it wouldn't have been there. It wouldn't have existed. Lyndon Johnson once said, if you can convince the lowest white man that he's better than the best black man, he won't notice that you're picking his pocket. If you give him somebody to look down on, he'll empty his pockets for you. And I think that's very true
