Morning Coffee - Deep Fakes Are Gonna A.I. The Thingamajigs!

But I can't help but feel there's something a little bit strangely grotesque about this situation. So I'm going to link the video. You can watch it yourself and we'll see what you think. But it's just another area in which Deepfakes just feels like it's going to be very problematic in the coming years. Secondly, I saw that a company called Skylum is going to be releasing a product called Luminar AI

People will destroy us long before the tech will. 🤔

I think that'd be one of the true test to see how they handle darker skin, as opposed to lighter complexion. That would be interesting to see. Whenever that does come out. It doesn't seem like it's coming out anytime soon, but they just had some mock ups of what it could look like. So is technology going to destroy us? It's interesting a lot of philosophical and theological answers to that. But technology is really just nothing more than tools

Com, and it's an audio AI, an audio deep fake. And what you do is they give you a script and you read, like, ten minutes worth of a script, and then it creates a database, a deep fake of your voice, and so you could punch up. Let's say you wrote an article and you wanted to put it out also in podcast form, without actually doing it yourself. It will deep fake you reading that article

I just realized the way I began, that sounded pretty confusing, telling you that they're okay with it. But then she felt uncomfortable. And basically what she was saying is, you know, they knew this was being done, but it's just seeing her son alive again was kind of disturbing to her, I guess. But they were aware, and they were fine with it

But we don't live in a world right now that cares about truth. In fact, we live in a world that depends on people's inability to discern fact from fiction. So if this was maybe I'm looking at the nostalgia in the wrong way. But people might have had more passion to seek the truth. But now the steamroller has flattened all of our souls

One final note, it does show two examples of black people being enhanced through the Luminar, and one is a younger black guy, and it's mostly focusing on the Boca around him and lighting and stuff like that. But it does saturate the photo a bit enhance it because the colors aren't as vibrant as they could be. And when it's done, they are. And the black woman that it shows is more of what I guess you would be looking for in a photo enhancement of facial features

@DBPardes I meant to say "The LACK of critical thinking"

And he's saying, yeah, well, it was a cover up. We never really killed Osama bin Laden. Imagine how much currency. That ridiculous. Youtube video that has now been pulled down by YouTube that Trump shared would have because no one wants to think critically. Strangely, though, this group would have you believe they are thinking critically and you are the one who is the fool because they're questioning the narrative, and therefore that means you are a critical thinker and not a sheeple. Yeah

Cat fishing will be amazing! 😆 @AverageJoe

Yeah, Joe. So I did a I did a check on the app or the not app, but the software, and it's interesting. So one thing I like to do is I like to use Google, obviously like everyone else, and they have the general search where you literally have the product itself or the website itself that you can visit. But I like to go over to news to see what's being talked about with the thing itself, whatever that may be that you're searching for

I don't even know why they chose to use that in the demo video, but that was the only one that really seemed to jump out as ridiculous looking the rest of them. If I saw them and didn't know, I would just assume it was a professional photograph of a landscape, the portrait aspect of it is equal as far as I saw. Like the adjustments that you can make, the functionality of that, the mapping of the human face and all that
