Get Off My Lawn, The Weeknd!!

So I'm sitting here waiting for my mobile order to be ready. And I figured this was a good opportunity to talk to you about that delightful halftime show, right? You know, you didn't enjoy that. That was great, wasn't it? You know, I've come to realize I've reached the point where I'm just completely unaware of most of what's going on in music. And I've also reached the point

Hey, I missed this and I just need to link you to my rant that I did on Tommy's weekend post week. We AK anyway. Really disappointing. Everything's disappointing. And that in terms of what all the buzz was. It's just Yuck only can go up from here

Some of it has, like, kind of an old timey, early 80s R amp B vibe to it that obviously works with a gentleman of my age. I don't want to trash the guy. And as far as he's recorded, I guess, is what what I'm saying. But as a performer, yeah, that was bad

My Millennial opinion

So just have to comment really quickly here. Phoebe Bridgers and her are very popular with the Millennials and Gen Z. I love her. I do like some of Phoebe Bridgers songs, though I've never seen her perform, so I can't comment on that

So I get what it's like. And now, although his music hasn't really held up well for me, the Anti Christ Superstar album from Manson, Marilyn Manson was a huge thing at a point in time in my life, and he's apparently quite a scumbag, according to a lot of people now

And I feel like that dilemma is maybe going to only increase as more and more of the content that we enjoy on different streaming platforms that are rightfully reimbursing artists that way. But anyways, I'm curious if you have any thoughts about that or if you've come across something like that as the way we consume media has changed

The "Weakend" was spectacular!!! What are you all taking about?? @DBPardes

When I first listened to Led Zeppelin, I was like, what the I discovered them about a year and a half ago. They happened to be come to Boston like a week and a half. After I discovered them, I went to see the small club in Brighton. Here in town. And my jaw dropped. My jaw dropped. There was like Neo soul. The guy. Eric Burton, the lead singer. He's got, like, every soul singer has just invaded his soul

I mean, I could go on and on and on, but these guys have huge followings, but they don't get any radio time. And I don't understand why it is this way. I just don't get it. I'm guessing a lot of it has to do with the fact that all this stuff is programmed to be sex related, because honestly, some of the stuff people are concerned about certain things

But think about back in the day, I'm going back to the early 80s here in the Philadelphia area. There's a station called Hot Hits, 98 Wcauf. Right in one hour's time. You could hear Michael Jackson. You could hear Big Country. You could hear Duran Duran. You could hear Lionel Ritchie. H***, you could hear Buckner and Garcia doing Pacman Fever all in the same hour block. But what do you get today like that?

Defending The Weeknd

It bangs out the trunk, but it wouldn't translate well on stage. But his music is very dark. It's very explicit. And also he showcases his voice. He has an amazing voice. Actually, he doesn't use the autotune stuff or anything like that. Contrary to most of these pop musicians where they have the computerized voice, he has a very natural false shadow, and it's an amazing voice

We were all like, the 90s when the grunge thing kicked in and a bunch of people were wearing flannels and trying to be all depressed all the time. That's when we would make fun of the Boomer generation. So that's the only less veneer. Although I did say I get off my lawn, which is kind of a Boomer thing. All right, fair enough. We've all learned a lesson here, I think, is what we're leaving with

Thriller > *

Hey, no, listen, you said that you would take off the Wall over Thriller, which is a very, very Boomer thing to say. I don't know. I'm gonna take your word for it this time, but I'm watching you. I feel like you're trying to infiltrate. I don't know, but it wasn't even to get off my long thing. No, it was like only a Boomer would take off the Wall over Thriller. All right, but fine
