Michelin Star Indian Restaurants- My personal favorites

article image placeholderMalai Makhan at Indian Accent London
Thanks to the pandemic, I have not eaten out in a restaurant for what seems like an eternity. Today's, Friday and Friday evenings are normally when we would go out as a family and eat outside. So in remembrance of times has passed, I thought I was having this a bit about some of my favorite Mission Star Indian restaurants. Mission Star Indian restaurants are something of a rare breed and hard to find, but when you do find them, they tend to be incredible

From Keema Kaleji to Malai Makhan, in search of authentic dishes. #food #michelinstar

Amaya in London - https://www.amaya.biz/

It's minced meat with chopped mutton liver pieces. There are many other great items at the restaurant. But this particular dish I still remember and particularly because when I went back a couple of years ago, I was looking for this dish. It was no longer on the menu could be because of a different chef or something else. And it was that meal and Maya many years ago that made me realize that what sets a Michelin, Michelin, Michelin, Michelin, Michelin Star Indian restaurants, my personal presentation

Taj Campton Place in SF - https://s.swell.life/SSIEskpnB7GQ9yP

Next on my list is, fortunately for me, a local restaurant at the Taj Captain Place Hotel near Union Square in downtown San Francisco. What I love about this place is that the chef should Rijit Gopirathan, has made it a truly unique combination of California cuisine with Indian influences. This is not pure Daisy restaurant. The dishes are very inventive and are incredible in terms of flavor, creativity, and presentation. The non Brown butter, for example, is something I can eat forever

Gymkhana in London - https://gymkhanalondon.com/

The next one on my list is the Jim Khana in London. This serves more of traditional Indian cuisine, but which is pitch perfect. This is probably the place with the best service I have ever experienced. They do make you feel like a pampered Sahib. In the times of the Raj Incidentally, Jim Khan was rated the best restaurant in Britain in 2014. That is correct. It's best overall restaurant, not just for Indian food

All Spice in San Mateo - https://allspicerestaurant.com/

And the thing about this place is that when I had the food there and this was many years ago, what I still distinctly remember was that the spices and the flavoring was just incredibly authentic. I had the ghost with NAN. I could have shown I was sitting in a wedding Vara dinner back home now in India. It was that true in terms of its flavors here again, I think I went back after a few years, and I think the cuisine has changed somewhat

Indian Accent in Delhi and NY - https://indianaccent.com/

This is what I you can buy off roadside vendors in the Chalk neighborhood in Luck now, I still do that at times when I go to luck now, but it's flavors like these dishes like this when you get to eat in a really good restaurant, and that brings back kind of memories that makes it meal worth it

So this is London's oldest Indian restaurant. I believe it opened in 1926. And my grandma, my Nana and my granddad. My granddad was from South America. He was over here studying law. They were dating and before they were married, just before they were married, same year, they would visit this restaurant in London. It's just off of Regent Street in 1939, and the restaurant was modernized somewhere in the 80s, then changed back to the original food. There is

So here is the link to Grand Trunk Road. And again, the food is beautiful. It's literally walking distance, five minutes from where I live. And the owner makes you feel very special. He will stand and he will chat and tell you stories and give you drinks on the house. And he's just a really cool guy. And the food is great. So yeah

Yes

I just had a quick look and yes, Veroswami is a Michelinstar. And I wonder if you've been there and it didn't make your list or I don't know. You seem to know your restaurants

Yes to Veeraswamy. Also include Tamarind and Benaras to your London list.

One is Tamarind, and the other is Bennett. And Tamarind actually is the first Indian restaurant to win a Michelinstar ever, or at least in London. I've eaten those as well, and I would highly recommend them too, if you are on a kind of a trip to just checking out all of these great places in London, I think outside of India, I think London is the best place to eat Indian food

And Mark, I wanted to respond to your Grand Truck Road recommendation. I have not eaten there. I will definitely add it to my list of places to check out whenever I happen to visit next along the same lines, there is is another place called Deshum, which is also not like a Michelinstar place, but more of a regular restaurant. And this is a great place to have lunch and they have multiple branches. There's one in Carnegie where I have eaten it's again
